The perfect day...?
Hello Crenshaw Kids!!
I hope you are having an amazing week! We missed some of our friends this past Sunday in Sunday School and worship! We prayed for your good times and talked about looking forward to hearing about your fun times when you return!
It was an exciting Sunday! We have officially moved up to our new space on the top floor of the church. We will be continuing to work to get everything in order and completely ready for our open house which will be on Blessing of the Backpack Sunday, August 14. You do not want to miss this event! Mark your calendar!
Our lesson this past Sunday began with Cooper and Isabella drawing a picture. The hard part is that they had to draw the picture on a paper plate on top of their head without being able to see what they were doing. I asked them to draw a picture of the "perfect day". They started with a sunshine, a tree, added some apples on the tree, a dog and some flowers etc. When they showed off their masterpieces the drawing of the perfect day did not turn out the way they thought it would! HA HA
This led us to a story about a man named Job. Job was a blessed guy! He loved God and praised Him and was a good man. He also had lots of things. He had 7000 sheep, 5000 camels, 500 ox, 500 donkeys, 7 sons, and 3 daughters. One day when God was talking to His angels, Satan....(remember that is the devil?) said to God; "Job wouldn't love and worship you if he did not have all that stuff." And so, God took the sheep and camels and ox and donkeys and kids away from Job. This is what happened....Job got down on his knees and prayed and continued to love God.
Then, Satan said to God....well, if you take his health then he certainly would not praise and love you! Job then was sick. He got sores all over his body and he was in pain! BUT, Job continued to pray and love and praise God. Job said, "The Lord gave and He took away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!"
Listen to what happened next...God gave Job back ALL of his things and doubled them! He was more blessed than before.
Job did not have a perfect day. However, he did not pout or get angry when things did not go his way. He blessed the name of the Lord. We can learn from this. Each and every day we will have challenges. Things will not go as we planned. We can choose to focus on the good or get angry and be negative. I hope that you will stop in those not so perfect moments and thank God for the good.
Love you all and look forward to being all together again soon,
Miss Alice
