Have you ever gotten into a fight with one of your friends?
How do you make up and get to be friends with that person again?
Do you go tell them you’re sorry?
What if the fight was the other person’s fault? Could you still be the one to go talk to them first, before they told you they were sorry, and try and be friends with them again?
This week in Sunday School we discussed how to be a peacemaker.
What do you think a “peacemaker” is?
It’s someone who makes peace between two people. When two people get into a fight, a peacemaker can help them stop fighting and help them to be friends again.
Did you know that Jesus was our peacemaker?
He made peace between God and us. We were in a fight with God. We were always doing wrong things and not listening to God, and God could have punished us for those things. But instead, God wanted to have peace with us. And even though we were the ones who were doing the wrong things, even though we started the fight with God, God was the one who sent Jesus to talk to us and to make peace between God and us. Jesus died on the cross for all those wrong things that we do, and now, if we believe in Jesus, we have peace with God. Jesus came to us first, to make peace between God and us.
Jesus wants you to go to your friends first, too, even when you weren’t the one who started the fight, to make peace with them. If you do that, if you will be a person that tries to make peace with other people, you will be like Jesus, and God will be happy with you.
And when you go to make peace with someone, Jesus will go with you. He lives in your heart, and He will help you know what to say to someone when you try to make peace with them.
Thank you Jase for being our TECH master today!
We now introduce MRS. Sally Wilson Palmore!
Crenshaw Kids and Fans surprised Sally with a gift letting her know we love her and wish her the very best blessings in her marriage!
In Sunday School we drew a daisy and wrote our name in the middle. We wrote friends and family on the outside petals and discussed how we can be a peacemaker in the lives of those closest to us.
Peace"maker" or Peace"breaker"?
The older students had to read scenarios and place them in categories. The asked...is this describing a peacemaker or peace breaker. Do I see myself in any of these situations and if so, am I shining a light?
Did you miss this Sunday? If so, watch this video clip and catch up!
I miss you all terribly, but will be back on Sunday for our first Christmas musical rehearsal and the fruit of the spirit party! Can't wait!! Thanks for praying for my dad as he recovers from his surgery!
Dad has to do exercises each day several times a day! I am his coach. I told him it was time to go outside and get some fresh air. He said, "Ok." The next thing I knew he was on the golf cart. I do not think that is what fresh air was supposed to be? But, who and I to argue. I reminded him he was not supposed to be driving yet. He quickly told me a golf cart didn't count!
Crenshaw Kids and families please keep our Ashleigh in your prayers. Ashleigh was admitted into Children's Hospital at Richmond, VCU on October 17. Ashleigh joined us a few months ago in Sunday School and she needs our voices. Ashleigh is in the 6th grade at Kenston and loves music and drama, cheering and just enjoys life with friends all the time! From Mom yesterday: Update on Ashleigh she is still dealing with pressure on her brain which is still causing a lot of things going on with her body. She is still having issues with talking and seems to be favoring her right side more than left side. She has had some occupational therapy and physical therapy should be in here today. The neurologist said that they will keep her on the medication for the pressure a couple of more days and may possibly have to do another mri at the end of the week to see how things are doing. We are seeing very small improvements and are taking things day to day right now. She hasn’t had anymore fever
Just like God can make a beautiful snowflake out of a speck of dust, He can make something beautiful out of us too when we go to Him for forgiveness and ask Him to cover our sins white as snow! “Come now, let us reason together,” says the LORD. “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool.” Isaiah 1:18 Is that automatic? No…we have to choose and be willing to take a bath or shower to get clean, don’t we? It doesn’t just happen like an automatic human car wash! 1 John 1:9 says “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.” This means we have to ask; we have to admit we are wrong and we need God to make us right and clean. When we do, He promises to forgive us and purify or cleanse us. When the snow falls, it covers things; it covers the ground, the leaves on the trees, our roofs and our cars. Then everything looks white! Well, God
